"Elephant Ride" by State of Bengal -- I really enjoy this song, smoothed out electronics, tabla drums, a lumbering bassline (to follow the elephants), sitar, acid-lines... good stuff - these guys first appeared on the international scene when they were on 'Anokha' a compilation of Indian-English jungle, put together by Talvin Singh, but this comes from The Rebirth of Cool, vol. 7 - a series put out by island/polygram which helped expose a lot of people to acid-jazz, downtempo and jungle - this part of the series only came out in the UK, as they stopped putting them out here at vol. 4, however you can pick it up here, and check out the earlier volumes for some good choons

And EVERYONE should go out and get that Anokha CD. If for no other reason than it, along with Cornershop, was among the first CDs of the 90s that made it cool to be Indian.
