Cover Cover

Propagandhi - Pigs Will Pay See, it all started with NOFX, with their PMRC Can Suck on This 7" back in the 80s. My brother has a copy, and it's not very good. It's just really rough and infantile. But anyway, when it came time for Propagandhi's first 7" on Fat Wreck Chords, they just co-opted NOFX's artwork with a photo of a pony-tailed canadian puking masking-taped to the cover. At the time I thought it was hilarious.

NOFX - Reagan Sucks. A few years later, NOFX drops their Fuck the Kids 7" album, and just took Propagandhi's art and stuck some more crap on top. It makes for a nice little collection, and I wish more bands would do silly stuff like this. I was going to make a whole post about 7" albums (this one has 13 songs on it), but the other ones I have aren't any good. Propagandhi has one called "Where Quality if Job #1" and it's fucking terrible. Two slabs of unmarked vinyl with pictures of penises hand-scrawled in the run off grooves. It rambles from track to track, with locked grooves hidden here and there, leaving you with a skipping "shut up... shut up... shut up..." over and over again. It's really shitty.

Anyway, both of these are out of print, but you can probably find them at your local punk rock shop in the 7" section for not-too-much money. Punk rock 45s are always a little harder to find online, but insound usually has a good selection. Most of the NOFX stuff is found on 45 or 46 Songs That Weren't Good Enough to Go on Our Other Records [BUY], and you can find the Propagandhi track on their compilation album "Where Quantity is Job #1", which I haven't found online yet.

elsewhere, check out The Number One Songs In Heaven, a new mp3 blog focused on vintage soul, funk and generally groovy stuff. He kicks it off with the jackson 5 and works up to some chi-lites today. Worth a look if you've liked any of the funk/soul cuts here at robots.

http://www.g7welcomingcommittee.com/catalogue/g7007.html to get "Quantity" directly from G7. I'm such a Propagandhi fangirl that I think it's brilliant (esp. certain rarer tracks like "Oka Everywhere").
