reduce, reuse, recycle

here at robots, we usually focus on what we consider to be 'good' music. or at least interesting.

i'd like to take a moment to put the spotlight on some really bad music just for the sake of comparison. if, like me, you avoid commercial radio and MTV like the plague, you can almost forget how bad things are.

here is some of the best evidence i've ever seen that popularity of a band and commercial success is not at all related to talent or creativity.

Comments

Why, that's hilarious.

if anyone finds an mp3 instead of that stream, let us know. i'd love to hang onto that for posteriority, if you know what i mean.

so amazing... those bastards! who do they think they're fooling? apparently an awful lot of people, seeing as how their albums go multi-platinum every damn time. yech.

why the hell would a site like this do something lame like deleting my comment?? all i said was that i also hate Nickleback but the melodies of both those songs are obviously different, the only thing they had in common was song speed.. I'd understand Lenny Kravitz deleting comments but not Robots...

Maybe that wasn't ALL you said...

Posted by: DURRR at June 15, 2004 9:27 PM

the only other thing i said was that Nirvana used the same exact chords in 10 of their songs and theyre one of the best bands of the 90s... that was it.. deleting my comment was lame...... anyways take care.

there's a difference between brilliantly simple songwriting and sad, uncreative attempts to make money off repetitive swill...anyway, your comment is attached to the wrong post, dumbass.

oh. my. god.

maybe they're trying to lift the classic jamacian approach to reusing backing "riddims" in reggae and dancehall songs? it makes you wonder what sucker they stole the original composition from, because obviously they couldn't come up with it on their own....
