A Flock of Seagulls - Telecommunication [buy it]

what? are you kidding? why on earth? WTF?!? the answer to all of the above is simple: as creepy and new-wave as these jerks were, they made some real sleeper gems. this track is the first one on side B of their self-titled LP, which gets the most press for having I Ran on it. don't get me wrong, I Ran is an absolute classic, but the rest of the album is just as good.

of course, all of this gets filed under guilty pleasure listening. but you know you love it.

This track sounds like Divo had sex with the Buzzcocks. I.. like it.

I am not sure why jp would downplay new wave, especially after posting a really good example of the genre. I am a huge new wave fan and would put any of it up against any of the victim rock that is popular today. Just cause something is fun don't mean it isn't worthwhile.

didn't mean to give the wrong impression - I personally love new wave. and anything else that completely embraces that big synth sound. however, since all the ironic post-modernists spent a bunch discussion how great new wave was, genuine love for the music seems less trustworth. but it's all love.
