Large Professor - It's About that Time

Large Pro is a production powerhouse in the mainstream hip-hop vein. he's done tracks with and for Busta Rhymes, the Beastie Boys, Eric B & Rakim, Biz Markie, and did 6 tracks on Nas' God's Son LP. he released his own LP 1st Class in 2002 [buy it], featuring this track which has been a staple of mixtapes done by folks such as Dan the Automator, Z-Trip and so on. chances are you'll recognize the production instantly. the lyrics are meh, but kudos to him for rapping over his own stuff rathing than phoning in emcees. this track is a sleeper classic, and the intrumental is quite useful if you're planning a big hip-hop or mashed up mix.

That beat is nice as hell, too bad the lyric is weak. Large Pro is better on the mic than a lot of producers, but subject matter is lacking.

Inspired by this post, I've put up 3 hip-hop tracks by all-star producers (Towa Tei, Prince Paul, Pete Rock) over here.
