psych

quickie (because its friday and i'm hungover):

"You Make Me Feel" and "Everyday" both by dios -- the latest startime international (also home to the french kicks) label darlings, who's album is selling like hotcakes, are from the same So-Cal city (hawthorne) that bred the Beach Boys and Black Flag, and you can hear some of each on these songs (more BB than BF tho). I like both of these songs enough that i think i want to get their album, maybe you should too.
NB: these songs are free on the SI site, along with a bunch of other great tunes - check the Kicks, as well as the Natural History, and (duh) the Walkmen - startime rules!

[ed. note: We'd like to take a second and welcome all of the new readers. We've tripled our hits in one day, which is pretty exciting. Hopefully all of you new folks will like what you see. Stick around, there's new stuff popping up all the time here. Feel free to drop us a comment!]

I think my favorite Dios track is "Starting Five," in which samples of birds chirping provide some of the percussion. Totally bizarre and totally awesome.

definitely get the disc and, more importantly, see them live. they do their disc more than justice!

I think "Nobody's Perfect" is the most "accessible track" on that album.

This is so cool! I hail from Hawthorne myself. I went to middle school with Kevin Morales and I went to high school with John Paul (JP) Caballero, who are both members of Dios. It's amazing years later I am finding these friends again after losing touch via this website! REALLY COOL!

If anyone wants to hear/download some dios concerts, or just wanna stop by and chat with other dios fans, I have a dios DC++ hub. We only have 4-5 shows available right now but they sound great! If you dont know who to connect to the hub do a search on google for DC++, or come by my dios message board and learn how to connect. http://livedios.proboards15.com
