Songs With Words Are Infinitely More Popular

Feller Quentin Live at Amoeba SF

Dizzee Rascal - Fix Up Look Sharp (Ratatat Remix).

G-Unit - Stunt 101 (Ratatat Remix).

I had the luxury of attending a Ratatat show last night at Cine-Space in Los Angeles. It was a great little show, and the boys kicked some major ass. I highly recommend checking their live set, as it's more fun than you'd think it would be. Plus they shows are cheap, as is their merch -- t-shirts are only 10 bucks, and the remix cd is only five. I bought both.

The opening band, The Days End, were a local crew that reminded me a lot of early Karate with lots of cyclical, jazzy guitar lines. They also sound kinda like Unwound. Either way, they were solid, and I picked up their 7", which I'll post from later on.

Oh, and supposedly it was a Scissor Sisters after party (they played the Troubadour earlier in the evening), but I'm not sure. I left around 1:30 and they hadn't played or anything, although much of the kids from their crowd were in the audience. Anyone stick around to see what happened?

For hip-hop fans, I'd recommend checking out Dizzee Rascal's debut disc. It's pretty solid. Though, I more heartily recommend his live show. He has some impressive vocal dexterity that is really evident in the freestyling he does at his shows.

I cannot convey how annoyed I am that I missed both this and the scissor sisters show last night. I despise being broke at the end of the month.

Jason -- the Ratatat show was only five bucks. If you went before ten it was free. Or, if you paid the five bucks there was an open bar. It was a cheap kid's dream come true.

But Ratatat will be at the Echo next Friday, the 6th, so maybe you can make that show.

Anyone know where I could cop that remix disc? The RATATAT site is out of 'em.

I'm sure the site will restock once they get from the tour. Otherwise they're just selling them at their shows. It's totally unauthorized, so I don't think they're even supposed to be selling it anywhere- it says "for promotional use only" right on it.

I did a quick google search when I put the post together, and I couldn't find anyone that sells it. Email the band, maybe?

Am pissed I missed this. Unfortunately, I think that Echo show is from a while ago. Website just hasn't been updated. The Ratatat show lists them as being in Oakland that night.

If I'm wrong, please tell me because I wan to see them

I'm glad that Ratatat is finally getting the recognition they deserve.

I've loved those kids since the days when they were known as Cherry.
