Byrne baby Byrne

Future Soundtrack

When I was traveling halfway across the country this week with my girlfriend and a cat, the recent compilation Future Soundtrack For America kept us company. It's a fairly decent collection, benefiting MoveOn.org and a few other organizations. The roster includes Ben Kweller, Fountains of Wayne, Nada Surf, R.E.M., They Might Be Giants, Deathcab For Cutie, Bright Eyes, Sleater-Kinney and a bunch of other big names. Not all of the tracks are that good, but one of the best is David Byrne's song Not So Far To Go. I'll post a few others from the comp later in the week, but this is a good place to start. Move on! [Buy Future Soundtrack For America here, and its companion book from McSweeney's - which includes the CD - here.]

Thanks for making me aware of this. I'm surprised I passed it by living so near to McSweeney's at 826 Valencia in San Francisco. if you haven't already, be sure to check out their publication "The Believer".

Cheers,
Joel (4F)

It's funny, Byrne's solo work is as good as the Talking Heads stuff, but his fanbase has steadily declined. I don't get it.

Thanks for this track.

I'm with you. I actually haven't heard his new album yet, but I'm a huge fan of Look Into the Eyeball.
