Diplo - Into the Sun feat. Martina Topley Bird. Diplo - Indian Thick Jawns. Diplo has been making the rounds across this country as a DJ with Philadelphia's Hollertronix crew. Now he's making a name for himself as a producer, and truth be told, I think his debut puts him up there alongside RJD2 and even DJ Shadow in some respects. The music is that good.

You've probably heard Diplo Rhythm before, as some kids have posted it, and it should easily be the dance hit of '04, no problem. The first track here features Martina Topley Bird, who just released a solo album here in the states. You may remember her as the unbelievably sexy voice on Tricky's "She Makes Me Wanna Die." Anyway, the track is slow, creeping and beautiful. The second track, Indian Thick Jawns is exactly what you'd think it would be. You can watch a video for that one here.

All of this comes off of his Florida album, which comes out Tomorrow. When it does, you can order it from the Ninja Tune Shop or the Turntablelab. Big shout out to Nick for helping us out with this one.

I nearly posted some of these tracks when Moe Rex posted Favela On Blast.. except I couldn't find any that I considered worthy.

Is it just me or is Diplo a little overblown? The tracks on "Florida" are too long and don't have enough going on for my taste..

The Thick Jawns track is original and cool, I'd agree with the comments. But the first one is really weak!

Nothing about Diplo is overblown. The man is incredible whether it be his solo work, work with Hollertronix, solo mixtapes like the Shadow/RJD2 mixes, or whatever else. Personally, I cannot get enough.

I wasn't sure if I liked that Martina Topley-Bird bird (see what I did there?) one, then I realised I'd listened to it eight times. So I think I probably do like it.

Diplo has been getting massive hype while the vastly superior edIT album hasn't been getting any. Maybe it has something to do with an infatuation with the Dirty South and the street cred it gives your.. jawns.

I have an edIT track posted over here so you can judge for yourself. Basically edIT's album is this Diplo album if it were 40% better.

RJD2 and Diplo are touring the USA in September. I'm gonna go see them 9/25. Gonna be an AWESOME SHOW!
