Outside they're building tunnels

Shrinking Islands

The Shrinking Islands is a Boston band with so much jangle you'll be wondering if you have coins in your shoes. I don't know much about them, other than stuff posted on their website: they've played at a fair number of venues, including the Zeitgeist Gallery in Inman Square and Zuzu in Cambridge, and they've played with a fair number of bands, included the improbably named Balloon Fight. Anyway, they've got some good mp3s up on their site:

Big Nature Comes Back, The Secret Activities Begin and State Fair.

My favorite is probably State Fair, because of that Springsteen guitar line in the beginning and those harmonized vocals that sound like everything The Bens should have been.
The above tracks are from In the Black Carpet Version One, an EP which I assume you can pick up from the band themselves by contacting them at the address on their website.

Comments

These guys are pretty good but I keep waiting for the songs to kick in. They would benefit by adding a bass player and another guitar.

I like a lot, but you can tell they are just 2 steps away from being something really special.
