Its Thursday, time for Techno

sex in dallas... what?
"Everybody Deserves To Be F*cked" by Sex In Dallas -- This is what I'd call filthy techno, for a lot of reasons. If you've been out to a dance club at all this year, you've probably heard this song, but I think its worth my posting here... Loaded with rather direct chat-up lines, and I mean, like most people wouldn't say this to you in a bar, and if they did you'd probably give them a good slap for it... or not, who knows... anyway, its more like a chat-up conversation by two Parisians, then you add the filthiest synths I've heard in a pop-tech song all year - it works for me. SID is Adrien, Mohini and DJ Jean Marc, a trio of Parisians who relocated to Berlin to make music together... but word is that since they recorded their album, Around the War they've broken up! Huh, so much for longevity. Too bad, I say, because they've got a good thing going - just look at how totally cute and hip they are! I want to be friends with them. Check out their pages on Kitty-Yo, the label responsible for getting their releases out there to us. Buy the single, with a sick remix by the Hacker and two other mixes, or the album direct from the label.

more ada
"Our Love Never Dies" by Ada -- Yeah yeah, I know Markie just posted another Ada song the other day, but damn if this doesn't just fit like a nice little puzzle-peice with Sex in Dallas. Another huge "from the tip of your nose down to your toes" tech-rumbler, this is hot stuff. Solid tech-house from this lady based in Cologne (a hot-bed of some of the best tech-house in the world), not quite as minimal as some of the Kompakt stuff, but look for the aural-connection with the deep beats, sawtooth basslines and clicky production... The label she's on, Areal Records, clearly knows what the hell they're doing with her as part of their roster, and since they're based in Köln (Koeln), they've hooked up with Kompakt for distribution, a seriously good move on their part. They've been around for a few years, but this album, Blondie is their first artist full-length. Buy it from the label. (Also check the Kompakt site to see some of the amazing small labels they distribute, and check the Areal catalog on the Kompakt site, where you can buy most of their other releases.) I think we'll be hearing a lot more of this lady, and if you haven't been doing it already, Areal is very much a label to watch. Very highly reccomended.

Also, I'd like to be the first to welcome Mark back to NYC. I hopped out the shower to answer the door in a towel and greeted him, dirty beard and all, at a bright and early 7:45 am - he's lookin good, despite flying the red-eye - Party time! We're meeting some bloggers at a LES bar tonight if y'all wanna come...

Everybody needs it. Everybody deserves to be free. You know? Do you have a cigarette please? Are you happy? (This is by far the most philosophical, filthy, techno I have heard in a long time. Thanks!)

I am in love with these Ada tracks, man, thank you for posting another one. Definitely purchasing the album with my next paycheck. :D

That first track is solid, wish the music mixed it up a bit more. The guitar is a little toooo cheese-tastic for me. Great message, fun vocal. Everybody does deserve to be fucked..

The Ada song is well produced and pretty far up my alley. I might play this sort of thing out in the right context, but I really can't listen to an 8 minute long dance song at home anymore.

Why oh why do musicians insist on making such crazy long songs? This song would be so much doper if it were 4 and half minutes long..

the blog that reviewed the areal singles was Mondrian's Sketchbook - a blog by Stylus' editor, Todd Burns. The site was first hosted by blogger and then at stylus but has recently disappeared (sadly enough - it was a great place).
