Bring the noise

Food For Animals
"Turn It Out" & "Go Home, Get Down" by Death From Above 1979 What can I say, but its about time this record, titled You're A Woman, I'm A Machine, finally freakin' came out. I heard these guys, a twosome from Canada, for the first time this spring, or maybe right at the beginning of the summer... then they showed up as the latest signing to Vice Records and I waited... anyway, I was totally struck by their sound - the track "Dead Womb" hit me like a ton of bricks - its solid, just huge in its loudness, but there's a lot more going on than just volume. There's enough melody and, dare I say it, "pop" in all of the songs to keep me interested, and the lyrics... I mean come on, with lyrics (from "Romantic Rights," which I posted here a couple months back) like:

Come here baby, I love your company,
We could do it, let's start a family!
She was living alone and happily,
We could do it, its right Romantically!

how can you not be struck by the bizarre contrast? This Hardcore-sounding music is supposed to be about fury, and anger n stuff, not love, right? [ed: I know I'm gonna get some comments about that line... ha!]
Anyway, their album finally comes out next week, and I think you should go out and get it because, really, its really really good. Buy it (Tuesday or afterwards) from Vice, from insound or the iTunes Music Store.

Put it on your stereo, and turn it way up. Play it for your girlfriend - If she likes it, she's a keeper.
