I'll bring your mother back to life

David Garza

Davìd Garza is a singer-songwriter from Texas whose catchy, pop-savvy rock songs haven't caught on like they should have. His major-label debut, This Euphoria, is an incredibly solid album full of Jeff Buckley-like vocals and tongue-in-cheek melodrama; it is an example of what major-label bucks can do for very big talent. Today I'm feeling unoriginal and I'm simply going to post what I see are the two most fun, catchiest songs on the album:

Slave

Discoball World

Slave is my absolute favorite here. It's one of those rock songs in which the narrator promises the impossible, either out of hubris or insecurity, and it works very, very well. Discoball World starts with a drum machine and segues into real drums that bang away at you at a relentless pace.
This Euphoria, unfortunately, is located in many cut-out bins after a relatively unsuccessful major-label romp. But you can also find it here and here.

Comments

I had a college roommate who was obsessed with David Garza, so it was always easy to buy Christmas/Birthday gifts for her... I just got her the newest DG album that was already in the cutout bin for like $6! But no, he is def. underrated and is another example of a good artist getting screwed by a label (see Brendan Benson).

wasn't he in a Best Buy commercial when this album came out?
