white is the new blonde

a while back I posted the advance single from the new Subtle LP, A New White. the album has since been released [and can be purchased at your local Warp records dealer or on Bleep], and I wanted to provide a sample of an album cut to hopefully get some of y'all to pick it up. it's fantastic. you can listen to the entire album streaming on Bleep as well if you'd like to hear more.

Subtle - Red White and Blonde

see? the LP is really, really good (though we know where Darwin stands on this one). and for once with Doseone and Jel it's quite musical in the conventional sense, much less all over the place as Themselves or cLOUDDEAD were and much more, well, subtle. delicate. intricate. hell, even beautiful at times. if you enjoy it, [buy it] on Bleep's excellent online store.

BONUS! if you're as lucky as I was, you'll get to see this old pugilist while listening to the album on your iPod. I was on my way to the subway, and this dude was wildly dancing around in his red Kufi and boxing gloves totally to the beat of the Subtle track I was listening to. he kept pointing at me with his gloves and going "yeah man, yeah!" I think he likes the LP too.

Comments

Subtle really is amazing.

If you haven't seen it yet, I strongly recommend their video, "FKO." It's animated by a small company called SSSR, who, I must say, have some unbelievable talent backing them up. It's like the sort of dream you might have if you were fell asleep watching Kids in the Hall and Steamboat Willie side-by-side after a meal of bad enchiladas.

the video can be found at www.warprecords.com/fko/

Now I'm going to go get me some enchiladas.
