pilfer a twofer

at the CMJ, markie was given a copy of K-OS's single, love song. it's allright. you can [get the single or his new LP on iTunes].

but there was a house robbery that actually led to an interesting track summer before last:

K-OS - Superstar Pt. Zero (white label version)

Soho - Hot Music

K-OS fully ripped off Pal Joey's Hot Music (which gets a phenomenal remix on the 12" under the title more hot music, and has been widely bootlegged in general) in its entirety, so the second track can be thought of as an instrumental, though the former is really just K-OS toasting over someone's else's production. there are some decent cuts on Exit, though seemingly fewer on Joyful Rebellion, but this track stands out above all the ones I've heard.

you can buy the (More) Hot Music 12" from the [Lab], and buy K-OS' first album (featuring the real version of this track) [on iTunes].

This is pure bootleg action. I doubt K-Os would do this himself. Just someone cashing in on the acapella and what-not, which is always around with hip-hop. that's a great beat though, I would've done it too.

As for K-Os himself, I really like him. He's like a new, better take on what Wyclef Jean tries to do. "Emcee Murdah" off of Joyful Rebellion is a chooooon for sure as well.

it's pure bootleg action allright... but it's on the album. take a listen on iTunes if you don't believe me.

I've talked to pal joey about this song and I'm pretty sure he gave the beat to K-Os, or at least sold it to him. The song sounds dope nonetheless.

agreed. it'd be hard to sneak something like that onto an LP as a huge ripped-off sample.

Yeah, K-os is great at ripping off other people's creations and passing them off as his own new stuff. But this bootleg is totally legit. Up here in Canada on MuchMusic, the video for this track was on medium rotation for while. Not bad, actually.
