It's Alright, I Can Dial My Telephone

Rest In Peace
Marbles - Out of Zone. This track continues what JP started this whole week with the whole sensitive electronic pop music. Marbles is really just Robert Schneider, a member of the indy stalwarts The Apples in Stereo. He's been making four-track recordings on the sly for more than a decade, releasing the odd seven-inch, cassette or compilation track under the Marbles moniker. A full album of odds and sods was released on SpinART back in 1997.

This track comes off the forthcoming "Expo" album, which will see release in 2005. It's a wonderful little electropop album, crammed with sunshine and flowers, with great electronic flourishes from an obviously-accomplished pop master. There are a few instrumentals, but it's mostly just well-paced melodies that would be great for driving around to. Out of Zone is a perfect example of what the rest of the album holds. It's worth waiting for, and something that you should totally pick up when it comes out next year.

"Go Marilee" has always been one of my favorite indie pop songs. This track is promising for a new Marbles album (actually would be the "debut", eh?), but I'm not ready to predict similar greatness just based on this one song. Any idea when in '05 the album will appear?

Thanks for clearing that up, Chris. I had recieved the CD from the Robert's Manager while at CMJ this year, which is why I didn't know the release date.

Thanks again.
