Tussle's Kling Klang
Tussle - Decompression. San Francisco's Tussle fall into the same category as !!! and Out Hud in terms of post-punk dance disco mayhem, minus the yelping, rudderless vocals. You basically get what you expect, like pounding disco beats, clanging percussion and grooves on top of grooves. It's all very catchy and danceable, with enough variety to keep the 11 tracks on the band's latest -- Kling Klang-- interesting.

What sets them apart from their dance-fancy peers is their foray into dub. Thick slabs of chunky reverb coat the snare hits and bass plombs. It's a much more chill sound than the frantic chaos of some of the other guys. With a name like "decompression," this track acts as something of a place marker in the album. There's even a short, 40-second track called "comma" separating two of the faster tracks. It's a well-conceived and ultimately very rewarding listen.

I need a fucking job
In other, more depressing news, I need a job. Bad. I was woken up this morning by a recruiter telling me I didn't get a job that i interviewed for FOUR times over six weeks. They even took me out to lunch. So that's awesome. If anyone in the Los Angeles area has any kind of lead on any kind of job, hook a brother up. I don't care what it is -- sweeping floors, counting beans, eating, waxing, writing, dancing. I don't care. I just need a paycheck. I'm borderline homeless at this point, and will be if I don't have a job by Christmas. I wish I was kidding.

If you got any ideas shoot me an e-mail.

thanks.

*sigh*

Good, sweet balance of dub, electronica and rock.

I bought KlingKlang thanks to a music blog (I forget which one, for a while it seemed like I was going to sooo many). Anyway, the album is great! Sorta dubby, yeah, and also they use a bass guitar (at least I think) that helps give the songs more of a pop feel than sounding like a droning dance song. Its awesome!

Sounds good, reminds me a lot of Jah Wobble.
