Friday Dance-a-thon

tittle
"Paris Acid City" by Black Strobe -- Black Strobe are all the rage lately, with a string of amazing releases under their name - the 'group' is two Parisian's [ed: thanks jeerom], Arnaud Rebotini + Ivan Smagghe - including "Me And Madonna" and the mind-blowing "Italian Fireflies" (from the amazing Kitsune Midnight compilation), they've put out a string of hot-hot-hits on Trevor Jackson's (aka: Playgroup, aka Underdog) Output Recordings label, PLUS remixed everyone on the "who's hot in electronic music" list for the past couple of years (seriously, look at their remixes on discogs)...

BUT, travel back to 1997, during the 'French Touch' boom (sitting directly between Daft Punk's two albums), and pre-neo-Electro boom, and we're presented with this amazing slab of Acid-House weirdness. This comes from the Source 12" and it was also available on SourceLab 3 (this series was so amazing!), which is still available (used) here.

BONUS:

me
"Vitamin C" by Erasure -- Okay, these guys have a long and interesting history, but I'm not going to explain all of Erasure for you here at 5pm on a Friday. Suffice it to say that this comes from the "Love To Hate You" 12" single.

I want you to download this song, and if you haven't already listened to the Black Strobe song, listen to it before you listen to that first cut and place it in your mental folder for "early-90s acid-house" (assuming you have one).

Its totally wierd, but also totally rad.

Yup, Blackstrobe's great, their remixes also. Check out what they did to David Guetta's The World Is Mine. And while your at it, search for tracks (the Frequency 12", or his remixes for The Prodigy & Depeche Mode) by Rex the Dog!Sequencersteamtrainmusic in full effect! We in the Netherlands like to call this Vet Geluid (transl. Fat Sound, but really, you have to say it in Dutch, preferably with an southern accent, with a soft g that is)

yeah, I love a bit of black strobe - discovered them through the brilliant kitsune midnight compilation mentioned. their 2002 remix of Martini Bros "biggest fan" on Turbo is a hoot.

Umm...no. Blair has the best taste of all the robots. Just goes to show you, can't please everyone.

I agree. I mostly check blair's posts cause his taste is excellent and right up my alley.

I bet the title and vocal are a tribute to Acid New York which blew up NYC clubs in 1996 with the clever vocal :

"New York.. Acid.."

;)
