Counter-Inaugural PSA

Doing all you can, brother?
Sorry there’s no music posted here, rather a heads-up.

I want to make sure that everyone knows about the counter-inaugural events taking place in Washington, D.C. during the week January 15-22, 2005. For information on a variety of counter-inaugural events go to counter-inaugural.org.

There will also be a series of concerts in Washington, D.C. organized by Lars Ro of Purderous Magina Records beginning Thursday, January 13 through Saturday, January 22. For a complete listing of bands and artists involved and for contact information if you would like to be involved yourself in any way look here, and for more specific listings of show times and locations peep this.

There is also the possibility of a reunification of the legendary high school band Communal Gym Shorts featuring yours truly. Keep your fingers crossed.

Matt: Don't be a fucktard. :)

If the Robots want to make a post about political activism, they can and should do that, it's their space. If you don't like it, start your own damn MP3blog and quit yer bitchin'. After all, there are at least six other of us nutjobs who "give a shit".

Yeah, the nation has really turned into a police state [huge eyeroll].
What are the activists protesting? THat their wacky political pet issue isn't going to get forced down everyone's throats?
Get over the hate.

Dear Matt and Cap: Clearly this posting was not intended for you, but fortunately there are a lot of people who do care. In case you didn't take the time to read the entire post it does relate to music. There's a shit load of bands playing throughout the week in D.C., and regardless of your political leanings the music is for everyone. If all you want are some mp3s to download go somewhere else.

Oh, good. If I kind find out which bands are playing the counter-inaugural, I can make a list of bands whose CDs I don't want to purchase. Thanks for the heads up!

This event, at the core, is about expressing disrespect for the democratic process. If you don't like the result, you should just live with it for four or eight years. As much as I hated Bill Clinton, I would not have given the time of day for a counter-inaugural of someone legitimately elected by a majority electoral and popular vote. (Actually in Clinton's case, unlike Bush, he never got 50% of the vote, so it was a plurality, not majority.) The counter-inaugural is just a slap in the face to the American people.

But then, Bush's opponents never seemed to wise up to the fact that the dishonorable and disrespectful and downright dishonest manner in which they fought him politically only backfired and gained Bush support in the end. Michael Moore and Barbara Streisand were some of Bush's best assets. Keep it up, guys! Amen.

Oh well, even robots make mistakes.
