Scan-da-navy-ann Tech?

say skoog

"Set-up" and "Bring Me On" by Johan Skugge -- Here's a couple of really pretty minimalist tech-house tracks from Swedish musician Johan Skugge.

Skugge has been a musician for over a decade, as part of Swedish rock bands Yvonne, Rockmonster, and Harlem. He's also collaborated with Jay Jay Johanson and often opens for him when touring.

Skugge got into electronic music a number of years ago, releasing his first LP, Objects and Buildings on Source, and a pair of EPs on the Swedish Mitek Label (also home to Mikael Stavöstrand and Håkan Lidbo). Both of these tracks come from Skugge's new long-player Volume, out later this month, also on Mitek.

These two cuts are definitely similar to deep, bassy, yet pop-tinged work like Luomo's most recent album, and Thomas Brinkmann's "Soul Center" project, and echoes with the ghosts of Disco. If you like the way Skugge balances the slippery micro/tech/pop sound also check out his earlier work available here (and please note, the new album should be available today).

Pop!
