stop: we can't shake the waster

This album just tortures me. Having to choose only one song is like choosing between babies. It's just too hard. One minute I'll be swept up in the sweet rapturous brit pop glam and the next I'll be pounding my keyboard in furious time with jacked up synth hits. Everything about it is just wonderful.
Originally I was going to post “never as tired as when I’m waking up.” It sounds like a smutty money shot stuck on a beatles album cover. The looping guitar line, the sweet melody, the slow laboring pace -- those are all things I was feeling. The harmonic guitar solo that comes in at the 3:20 mark is exactly what I was feeling. I know that James Murphy spits fire through his keyboard fingers and makes love to the dancefloor 12" like no one else in the business right now, but he also absolutely kills it with this track. I swear it won't leave your head for days and days and days.
But then I snapped out of it. Disco Infiltrator is easily the standout dance track from this absolutely wonderful upcoming album from the dfa. I want to be the disco infiltrator. I want to be the beats, to be the thump, to be the physical embodiment of confused anti-irony. It’s the type of beat you instantly memorize, and picks up right where all his other singles left off. It’s familiar progression, which is a beautiful thing. It’s just a monster of a track.
So yes. This is a hyped album. Yes, you've read all about it before, and probably downloaded a bootleg copy back in October when this thing was supposed to come out. Yes, all of this is old news to you. But what's big news, is that this isn't a downloaded bootleg copy. This is actually an official-type copy. From the record label and everything.
It should be noted that when the album drops on February 15, it will include a bonus disc of LCD Soundsystem's previous singles. While folks have been reporting that "yr city's a sucker" will be on there, it's not on my copy. Also, the bonus disc has an embedded proprietary player that must be installed on your pc prior to playing, which is frustrating but whatever. Small price to pay for songs I already own on 12" anyway. You can preorder the album through amazon. Otherwise it should be available everywhere, since it's distributed through Capitol.
And in case you were wondering, the album is as good as you want it to be. It doesn't disappoint. This thing was worth the wait, and I encourage everyone to pick it up when it comes out in February. The man is a real talent.
