hit him when his eyes twinkle

just in case you missed it, I posted a pairing of indie hip-hop and 8-bit production a few days ago. this post keeps the formula alive, and don't miss the NEStacular track available here from:

Copperpot - Dreams

Copperpot - Out Work

Copperpot is a Chicago based producer and rapper who's put together a solid lineup of local and international rappers for his debut LP, Chapter 7. when he was 18, Copperpot left college after buying a plane ticket online, and ended up jetting around the world until 2000, when he returned to the windy city to begin his real production work. his production style reflects a more mature sound as a result of his worldly exposure, with plenty of strings and wood percussion, creating jazzy loops that highlight the host of talented emcees who he worked with to produce his LP (check out Chi-town and personal favorite Diverse doing a guest spot on this track). Chapter 7 releases later this month, and you can [buy it here].

BONUS! the outtro from this LP is brilliant. Outwork takes, well, you can figure it out. your favorite NES theme ever, and a simple but hot beat behind it. if you can't figure it out, you need to get in touch with your inner child and buy it an old console off eBay.
