I firmly stand by my claim that Out Hud is the best show you'll see live, and as the anticipation builds towards their second full-length release, everyone is chomping at the bit for a more substantial dose of what the album is about. it seems like people are going balls over bandwagon for the new material, without realizing that they've been this good all along. which doesn't detract at all from the new material, but you've got plenty of time before the March 21st release date of their second album Let Us Never Speak of it Again to pick up their previous release, STEETDAD [order direct from Kranky records]. this track comes via Kranky's website, and is a fully authorized special treat from the label, so download, listen, rinse, repeat.
this track shows off the best part of Out Hud's music - the slow, swaying builds that pile on intricate sound layer after layer, creating something that nails you with the rhythm and undeniable urge to get up and move with every crescendo. vocals and distortion do their dirty little deed amidst the diverse and synergistic instrumental (cello! fucking cello! that bass!) work... it's Out Hud. it's awesome. buy their albums, but more importantly, SEE THEM LIVE. if you've got someone special in your life, the music'll make you want to rub yourself all over them. if you don't have someone special in your life, chances are you'll find yourself rubbing yourself all over someone who will rapidly become pretty special. or just enjoy the music. either way it's money well spent.
