Stuck Between the Green Grass

I know that Matthew got into some fire when he posted this band the other day, but I don't think my commentary is going to be nearly as controversial. For one thing, I haven't paid too much attention to these guy's lyrics, for whatever reason.
Anyway, San Diego's Louis XIV are a hard band to figure out. The single that Matthew posted is all over the radio here in Los Angeles. I hated it at first. I thought it was annoying and silly and reminded me of a joke band, like Liam Lynch or something. But the more I heard it, the more it grew on me. So when I got the EP in the mail the other day, I wasn't surprised to find that I liked it. They're not just a one-trick pony... they've got at least two.
On this one they sound like the best elements of Glam, with delay-heavy snares, falsetto harmonies, piano and thick ol' guitar solos. It's not quite slow as molasses, but it's close, reminding me a little bit of LCD's "never as tired as when I'm waking up," in that sleepy Pink Floyd way. Kid tries to play guitar like he's harrison too, which is funny.

As a reminder that the Bloc Party is on tour, here's a hot little remix of one of their tracks:
Bloc Party - Helicopter [Sheriff Whitey Remix].
Don't forget, their album comes out in the US on 3/22 on Vice Recordings. They've also got Death From Above 1979 on Conan tonight. Here's a complete list of the Bloc Party's North American tour dates. My guess is these are mostly sold out (The LA show definitely is), but you can take a crack at it.
