I love springtime in New York, I do

What a random song to post, but whatever: as spring slowly approaches (here in Minneapolis we've had a few glimpses, and they've all been like strong drugs to people who have been hiding in their houses), I've been listening to this song more and more:
Jonathan Richman - Springtime In New York
I think it captures really eloquently those great couple weeks that transition cold to warm, when things are thawing, people are suddenly out on the sidewalks, and everything around you is life-affirming. (Of course, this being Jonathan Richman, this also includes the sweet smell of a building being demolished.) Though I don't live in New York like a few of the other robots, this song makes everything so vivid to me.
"Springtime In New York" is from Richman's 2001 album Her Mystery Not of High Heels and Eye Shadow, which is uniformly good, and mostly of the snare-and-acoustic, There's Something About Mary variety. I had a hard time choosing one song, and if you check the album out, listen especially to "Me And Her Got a Good Thing Goin' Baby", the best throwaway song you'll hear for months (incidentally, that's also how long it will be stuck in your head).
You can buy the album here or from Insound here.
