Demon - In the Park (Crusz Remix)
blair and I, both being teachers, apparently have the week off. while some of us (him) are lucky enough to sail around Miami playing pirate on a boat (apparently true), I'm still in the rainy, grey, cold BK, and felt like highlighting what is currently one of my favorite dance plates.
Demon is somewhere on the cusp of the inner circle of the tightly knit french house scene, and owns the outstanding 20000 ST label, home to his own work as well as that of Nicholas, Wuz (Demon + Alex Gopher), Crusz, and other french acts involving the letter zed. the track y'all may know best from this producer/label is the infamous euphoric-face-licking-house A-bomb You are my High (Demon vs. Heartbreaker), and if you haven't seen it, you can watch the lick-tastic video here (windows media).
this track takes a Demon's soulful, thumping original (you can watch a windows media stream of the video with the original version here, but unfortunately you'll probably think of Kris Kross' Jump when you hear the lead sample) and puts it in Crusz's highly capable hands, giving it a superb remix treatment. the bass gets gritty to the point where it can flatten you on the right soundsystem, the vocals are more tightly woven into the production (avoiding the deaded over-wordy house track), and the end result is an absolute stomper that should have your hips whacking into the person sitting next to you on the A train when it's on your iPod (or whatever train you take and music device you listen to).
Demon's 2004 release Music That You Wanna Hear is out now, and you can [purchase it from Insound]. he also just played at the WMC in Miami, and if you saw him (with Mylo), I don't want to hear about it. it's raining here, ya know.
