Hood Money Stolen

Hood, who we posted this week, recently experienced a major setback while playing a gig in Portland, Oregon. during the course of their show, someone snuck into their dressing room and stole a bag which contained among other things nearly $7000 in cash - $5000 in american dollars, and $2000 or so in canadian bills. it was essentially all of their touring income to date, a huge blow to the band and the label. This is the first time they've come over from england in several years so something like this tends to cut pretty deeply.

The band is hoping that someone - anyone - might know something & be able to pass along information about the crime. the show was last thursday 3/24 at berbati's pan in Portland, OR.

parties w/ info please contact Domino (click on contact) or us with info. Thanks guys.

Wow, Portland--watch your stuff at all time when you're there I guess. Dressing room at Berbati's is way downstairs, away from the stage and main room, it wouldn't be hard for someone to get in there unnoticed. Yikes, I hope they catch the person.

banks are good places for things like money.

wow, Portland of all places. that totally sucks, especially since last time Hood was in town 3 years ago, I overheard them saying after their set that it was probably one of the best in their career.

Berbati's is definitely a sketchy sketchy place at times. I am (unfortunately) not terribly surprised to hear that something like this happened. :(

I guess it's also a lesson to bands: leave someone with your stuff, lock it up or bring your valuables with you on stage.

Maybe this is why they were offering there drum kit for the right price at the Knitting Factory in L.A . This sucks. They were so good.

That sucks ass. I'm really sorry that happened. Portland is a great town and to have some jackass soil the town, the people and Berbati's with such a lowly act is terrible. I really hope the ass that jacked the cash does the right thing and gives it back. A band goes out and gives its heart and soul to the crowd and some selfish bitch ripps them off. That's just straight up fucked!

First off, that sucks. No one deserves to have that happen to them, and I really hope that Hood get their money back.

That said, the fact that they would have such a large amount of cash on hand seems strange to me. Is this a standard practice for touring bands? Hood have played in North America before, and I find it hard to imagine them flying back to England each time with huge duffel bags full of money.

"Is this a standard practice for touring bands?"

As far as I know, yes.

i've always known touring bands to transfer cash to money orders periodically, and then fed ex the money orders to booking agents to deposit in the bank. of course, hood aren't american, so they wouldn't have an american bank account; that surely has something to do with why they weren't doing something like this. i guess the lesson to be learned here is what someone already said above--don't leave a bag full of money in the dressing room--take it on stage (and put it in the back, against a wall where no one can reach it).

would a club be insured for something like this?
