I Wanna Jump Out My Skull and Jump Back In

I love the production on this one. I creeped along through the album, waiting for something to hit me, and this was the one. That thick piano hook with the laser-beam squiggles is just killing it right now... not to mention the synth strings. And we haven't even gotten to the vocals yet. Why haven't I heard more about these guys?
Dan Gallucci has been holding it down as rhythm guitarist for Modest Mouse on this last album. You might also know him from the Murder City Devils. Here he's work with Sean Reveron is also known as Exodus 77 as well as bunch of other names/projects. Obviously these two are working on a whole new thing here. I guess it's hip hop, but that seems like lazy criticism to me, especially since the rest of the album travels all over the musical map. It's a crazy ride for sure. I didn't think I'd like it at first, but I find myself coming back to it all the time. Weird new stuff pops up all the time that you didn't notice the first few times around.
There was a bunch of tracks I could've posted, and almost went with Foundation. Production-wise it fits in with the current underground zeitgeist, injecting mpc hits with equatorial flavors and a thick slice of booty. There's definitely some rock on the record too, so it's not all beats and rhymes.
Anyway, this disc comes recommended. You can mailorder it direct from their label Cold Crush Records for cheap.
