I Cried When At The Drive In Broke Up Too

They should just get it out of the way and call this album The Great Electroclash Swindle. I don't know how Casey Spooner duped Capitol into signing them and then shelling out all kinds of cash on this new album. I mean, electroclash went the way of the dodo ages ago, right? I have no idea if there's a market for this, but good for the 'Spoon, and good for Capitol I guess.
Anyway, I went to the release party last night at cinespace. It was all hollywood craziness, cobra snake style. Which was fun. The DJ was Fashion Designer Jeremy Scott, which was interesting. He played the usual mix of madonna and beastie boys and peter piper and the rest of the amateur hour stuff. Which was fun. I don't remember hearing much of the album last night, but they did play this remix cut. The album itself is pure spooner -- pretentious, thin and over-thought. But whatever... it is what it is: a halfway decent Faint album.
I don't know if I recommend it or not. I mean, it's ok. After seeing the line down hollywood last night there are obviously fans of these guys (or maybe they're just fans of open bars and being seen?). What do you guys think? Do people still like the spoon? or the Fisch? Maybe. I'm curious.
Right. So, you can buy the album, Odyssey direct from the band for an astounding $18.99. It's the same price at insound, so I guess that's the price all around.
