Don't Say I Didn't Warn You

The Heartfelt
Figurine - Way Too Good

Back in the winter of 2003, I posted this song to my then-Blog. I had found the track on the then-cool Epitonic (which really dropped off after that, but it was also the first place I heard the Rapture's House of Jealous Lovers). Granted, the album came out in 2001 and I was way behind the curve, but what can you do? Anyway, to me, this song was perfect. It had the beats I wanted to hear, the frail vocals I wanted, and the sentiments that I was feeling at the time. I still think this is just a great song. I scoured the internet to find a copy of their album and eventually got a mailorder copy.

So, it's with relief that I can announce that The Heartfelt has been reissued. Those of you looking for Dntel's other collaborative, vocal, USPS-driven project, here it is. Working with Meredith and David Figurine, and living in three different parts of the country, Jimmy Figurine made some of his best pop melodies without forgetting the experimentalism that he's so famous for. The whole album is excellent, with many standout tracks. It's really worth the 12 bucks.

You can order it direct from the label. I highly recommend it. Also, you can check out this cool computer animation video for IMpossible. It's pretty good, in a computer/emo sorta way. I dig it.

Yes, this is an excellent album! I guess Figurine is now defunct? I can't see how he'd have the time for another project with all the Dntel and Postal Service activity.

figurine is great- but i think they go a little bit over the top in the songs "my first UFO" and "digits"- think those might be on their other album (transportation + communication) though.

this is one of those bands that should be more well-known but isn't. glad to see you spreading the good word.

i'm glad this album had been reissued. the two tracks you mention are very good, as good as the postal service stuff. I've got to know Figurine late in 2003, so i was late too.
i read the last material they released was a single called Perfect End, but Jimmy Tamborello (aka. James Figurine) take no part on it. probably is just the end of trio Figurine as we know it.

actually, laslo, there's a new figurine album coming out very shortly. Jimmy's on it, and I believe it'll be on plug research records.
