You Don't Work You Don't Eat

My office only has one window. It's built into the front door. The room is shaped like a shoe box and I sit at the farthest end, facing the door. There are four desks in front of me, and that's basically it. We're a small team. My sight line is crowded with one huge billboard for the Christian Science Monitor and the hazy Los Angeles air. I can see one steel pinwheel air vent rotating endlessly all day long. It's lazy and whirring and clockwise. It spins in perfect time with this song. It's the type of song that hypnotizes you into thinking that it's all the same, over and over again, until the female vocals hit you at the end -- seemingly out of nowhere. It's beautiful.
This originally came from the Micronomic EP released last summer. Boom Bip does an excellent job with the song, maintaining it's beauty. A whole slew of Lali Puna's remixes have been gathered, along with a bunch of b-sides and rarities for the a new collection. Some of the mixes are stronger than others, but it's an excellent collection as a whole. You've got Boom Bip, Dntel, Two Lone Swordsmen, Sixtoo and some others on here. It's pretty darn good. It's got a great cover too, with this cute little bunny listening to headphones. I dig it.
You can find out more about Lali Puna [here]. You can buy the micronomics EP [here]. You can buy their album Faking The Books [here]. As for the remix/rarities album -- called I Thought I was Over That-- you'll have to wait. It's not out yet. Mark your calendars -- the album comes out on June 14th. It's really excellent, and definitely worth the wait.
