Bring Back the Sax

Johnny Whitney and Mark Gajadhar of The Blood Brothers seem to be unsatisfied with simply being in one band, which is great for me. They've been doing this Neon Blonde thing for more than a year now, but so far we've yet to see an album come out. Allegedly, they've mastered an album's worth of tracks and supposedly it'll come out on Dim Mak later on this summer. No official word from the Dim Mak camp though. None that I could find at least.
Anyway, the music isn't too far removed from the Blood Brothers stuff, except that it seems to be experimental in slightly different ways. Where the BBs are loud, emotive noise, Neon Blonde are loud emotive melodies. It works. It's almost folky in a way, and I absolutely love it. The songs travel all kinds of terrain, and sounds like Zeppelin at times. It's damn cool stuff, and I really wish I could hear the full length.
Of course we can always use more sax in rock 'n roll, so I'm glad to see it in there. I mean, it's not like this is the E Street Band or anything, but there's some noodly sax stuff thrown in. Which is cool. Anyway, the boys don't have a website or anything, but you can find another track at their Myspace page.
update: They've posted two new tracks up at their myspace page. Definitely worth a listen.
