CanseiDeSerSexy - Acho um pouco bom
in case you're wondering where the incredible art for the Knitting Factory show flier came from, her name is Lovefoxxx, and fortunately for all of us, she has band: Cansei De Ser Sexy (which I'm told means "tired of being sexy" in Portuguese). and more fortunately for all of us, they rock.
I know basically jack shit about Brazil, but it's clear that very awesome things go on down there, Cansei De Ser Sexy being one of them. they've apparently performed with Kraftwerk and Soulwax, are in the process of compiling what I think is their first LP. they have loads of music spotted around the net, which you can stream or download here or here (login required). their music has really caught my ear; it's super-catchy partially because of the liberal sprinkling of electronic production amidst the bouncy rock sound, but mostly because it's just damn solid. from the cheeky Meeting Paris Hilton to the poppy Acho um pouco bom, their sound goes through minor variations in style with each track, switching between English and Portuguese as well, keeping their music fresh and exciting with each listen. overall, the songs have an electro-rock edge to them, but without the lead weight of irony hanging off of them.
fun music is back! I need to go to Brazil.
