Got Me Higher
Soft are a 5 piece band based in Brooklyn (and yes, yes, I know I post an awful lot of NYC-area music, BUT I live here too, so when there's good music around me, I want to share it with you all). I met Soft for the first time about a month ago when they played the 'Sup Cinco de Mayo party. I was really impressed by their sound, and the guys in the band turned out to be really friendly, really nice dudes.
The Soft sound is all about blazing, swirling rock guitars, with layers of almost shoegaze-y distortion, backed with a huge solid rhythm section, and vocalist-Johnny's high voice that sails across the distortion. Their live show is really solid - so here we are a little further down the road, and they've got some new music that (for now) is exclusive to MFR, so you're hearing it here first - Ha! I sound like MTV!
"Higher" is going to be part of a series of limited 12"s, self released by the band with remixes. They're going to be releasing them throughout July, then the band will be doing a residency at Pianos during the month of August. Check out the band's site for more info on their touring schedule (I know they're heading to Philly in a couple of weeks), photos, more mp3's and their mailing list.
