I Think It's Coming Around
Hockey Night - For Guys' Eyes Only.
Personally, I love the dual guitars. Love 'em. I also love 90s style pavement pop. I love the bounce of it, and the sunshine fun. I mean, look at it outside -- it's beautiful weather, nationwide. So roll down the windows, start tanning those skinny arms of yours, put this on a cassette mix tape and start making things happen. Because when you combine the sweetness of the dueling guitars with the sweet bounce of 90s-era pavement pop you get something beautiful. This just a fun single, and while Paul Sprangers' voice is a lot like Malkmus at times, it's forgivable.
Hailing from Minnesota, Hockey Night have been around for a few years, with their first full-length released back in 2002. Their new one comes out on Lookout on July 12th. You should get it, because really, you need a summer pop album, and this is probably the one for you.
My only complaint about the song would be that it's too short. The thing clocks in at 2 minutes and 10 seconds. That is a tiny little song. I could totally use another 40 or 50 seconds, especially since you can't really appreciate the fact that Hockey Night has two drummers. Yeah -- two guitars wasn't enough. Two drums was necessary for total domination. It's true.
Anyway, like I said, the album comes out on July 12th at which time you'll be able to pick it up from Lookout.
