Sam Prekop - Something

It’s been a dream for years now that I’ve wanted to be that person on NPR that chooses what snippets of songs to play between segments. This is what Sam Prekop’s music sounds like. It takes you from one moment in your life to the next, segueing not missing a step.
Best known from leading the Sea and Cake on vocals, Prekop has forged that inimitable Chicago indie pop sound with his husky, soft vocals, laid back drums and bossa organ layered in exotic arrangements. Promoting his latest release on Thrill Jockey, Who’s Your New Professor, Prekop is now on tour with longtime Sea and Cake guitarist Archer Prewitt, plus drummer Chad Taylor and bassist Josh Abrams both of the Chicago avant-garde jazz collective Sticks and Stones. Since visiting Philly earlier this week it seems there are few dates remaining with just Carrboro, NC tonight and Atlanta, GA on Friday.

Check the Thrill Jockey website for further tour details and to download another track, Showrooms, from the new album and of course you should buy it here.
