It must be summer, 'cause the days are long

sunshiny day

If you're bored in the next week or so, try making a summer playlist that can get you a brand-new 20GB iPod.

Thomas Bartlett, through his Salon.com column Audiofile, is running a Summer Soundtrack contest for which you have to make a playlist of summer-oriented songs (their relation to summer is totally up to you), and all the mp3s have to be legally released. Check out the column for more information.

(And check out the column regularly, because Bartlett's got some great links to some great music. More than once, tracks I've posted here I heard on Salon first.)

The deadline is a week from tomorrow, June 27.
Just thought I'd mention it, because I've started my own playlist and it's really fun. Hard, but fun. Good luck.

Mr. Dave,

Since it hasn't been released free over the Internet, you can't use the Fountains of Wayne song you reference in the heading, correct? That certainly makes it difficult.

The other day I called your mother, but she said you were gone, gone, gone.

I would imagine it's just one, but you'd have to check the rules at Salon to be sure. I don't run the thing.
