he's got a coins on his eyes
if I learned anything from all those drunken nights playing that great hip-hop brawler with blair and anders, it's that a true rapper should be able to kick your ass physically as well as lyrically. now, in a battle, the better the emcee, the more elegant he'll serve you. similarly, physically, while anyone could thug me into a stain on the pavement, I'm looking for finesse here, people.
enter Afu-Ra. three solid albums deep into his career, he's just released State of the Arts [buy it from iTunes], touting collabs with Masta Killa, DJ Premier among others. the whole thing comes off as he does - an educated album that could kick your ass if it wanted to. just as he's a Tae Kwon Do master (though I'll bet I could take him in Tekken though if I had Hwoarang) in addition to a well-read, intelligent fella, the tracks all sound off intelligently, though with enough bravado to make you think twice about shit talking 'em.
and honestly, this track just plain bumps.
