Help
"On December 26th, 2004 the second biggest seaquake in the history of mankind caused a devastating catastrophe in the Indian Ocean. All income from the compilation is being donated to an orphanage in Indonesia. This way the money will not be subject to bureaucracy and go directly to helping children. Artists: Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos, Jay Haze, Wighnomy Bros, Henrik Schwarz, Freestyle Man, Andre Galluzzi, Guido Schneider, Luciano, Martini Bros, Ellen Allien, Dirt Crew, Daniel Bell aka DBX, Sascha Funke, Steve Bug, Swayzak all contributed a new or unreleased track without any commission." (From Forced Exposure)
So all 13 tracks are exclusive to the comp, or were when they were originally made (I'm pretty sure I've heard the Ellen Allien track elsewhere). Swayzak are David “Brun” Brown and James Taylor (who I posted a while back) - a British duo, with a talent for minimal dub-influenced techno, who's tracks are often blessed with great vocals, though this particular track goes for snappy instrumentation and atmosphere only.
The rest of the tracks on the CD are also on the fairly minimal end of the tech spectrum, so its not something you'd jam to in the club probably, but the disc is a good one to put on and putter around the house or walk around the city to.
This may be exclusively available at Forced Exposure or may be available at finer independant record stores - I wasn't able to find out for sure, so, sorry. But if you like techno on the minimal tip, and you feel like doing something charitable in the process, you should buy this CD - as it says on the CD case, "Please try to help whenever you can - there is always someone who needs it."
