Listen to me

gorgeous
"Honest With Me" by Richard Davis

Yes, more sweet sweet techno from, where else, Germany - you'd think those guys would have run out of ideas by now, because honestly, there are so many good electronic musicians at work there always putting out new music you'd think that would be the case, but still at Köln's Kompakt and Areal, Frankfurt's Klang Electronik and Playhouse, and Berlin's Shitkatapult, BPitch, and Kitty-Yo, (among many others) the jams keep getting churned out.

From the Kitty Yo stable of artists I bring you England-born Berlin-based Richard Davis - he's basically a techno-pop genius. His songs are always filled with amazing basslines, great glitchy beats, and his voice which is really quite beautiful. I would compare his work, this song included, to Luomo - sometimes sweet, sometimes sad, but always skittery in the beats and deep, deep, deep in the bassbins.

I posted a track by Davis back in January that I still listen to and really like a lot - he's also had his songs appear on a variety of mixes, like "Bring Me Closer" a real stormy one on Michael Mayer's Fabric Mix-cd. This track skates along on its own momentum for a while, taking its time and building up steam, with Davis's signature deep drop bass sounds crawling around in the back, while synth squiggles and his sweet-honey voice carry it through to the end of the track. Damn good stuff.

His new album, Details, is his third full-length, and is where this track comes from. It is out now, so do yourself a favor and buy it: direct from Kitty-Yo, or from Forced Exposure or Amazon.

Also, if you're lucky enough to be in Germany this summer, you can catch a Richard Davis set: the dates are July 30 in Hamburg @ Click, August 20 in Frankfurt @ Main, Pop & Glow Open Air, and September 15 in Berlin @ Watergate, Popkomm.

PS: For any of you guys up in Boston, I'll be rocking the decks of the Enormous Room this Saturday night, so swing by and hang out, drop off a demo, and have a drink with a robot!

I'm not sure which robot put it up, but the lady in the radiator song was posted a few months ago and I was just wondering where it could be found. All I can find in the Pixies cover which is great, but I'm hankering for the real thing.
