I am...
"Anniversary" by Roland Shanks
Just a quick post today as I'm about to run to get a Chinatown bus up to Beantown for my gig at Enormous Room tonight.
This is another one of my UK-connection's rather brilliant suggestions: Roland Shanks is a five-piece made up of a group of early-twenties blokes living in Camberwell (London area - see Basement Jaxx Camberwell EP for reference) who formed the band in late 2004. They played around a bit, then had their first official gig in January of 2005 in Brixton, and have been working on recording their songs since then.
Currently, Roland Shanks have just put the finishing touches on their first release, a 7" single, of which "Anniversary" is the B-side. The song is short and is a serious little jam that makes me want to dance around in circles in my apartment - I'd imagine the band is a hell of a lot of fun to see live, so do what you can, young Londoners, to see them play out.
Anywho, the record is due out on the 8th August, and is being released by our friends at the Moshi Moshi label - buy it and make yourself happy!
Oh, and come out to Enormous tonight if you're in Boston!
