Because You Wear It So Well

Sleeping PeopleSleeping People - Nasty Portion

Every second of this song is better than the last. It starts off frantically, gets even more frantic, and heads off in a bazillion different directions, never settling in one place too long. In that regard it's like a post-rock hummingbird. I decided this was ADD indie rock, to which Blair correctly responded: "So, it's like the Mae Shi without vocals." In a sense this is right on the money, except that the Mae Shi's songs are perfectly short, and this track is more than 5 minutes long. Now, five minutes time is a lot to ask of anybody for anything let alone spastic guitar rock. But these guys don't outstay their welcome in the slighest. Honestly, it just gets better and better as it burns along.

The Bass here is being expertly handled by Kenseth Thibideau, who happens to be playing with Pinback these days, which is nice. He's in a bunch of other bands as well, most of them linked through the Temporary Residence family. Right now, the band is awaiting release of their self-titled album (out August 16th everywhere), which you can buy right now from their label. They'll be playing a handful of shows throughout Southern California as well (they're from San Diego). So keep an eye out. I'm sure the live show is pure fire.

every second is better than the next? correct me if i'm wrong here, but doesn't that mean that this song gets progressively worse as time passes? and while we're at it, does pointing this out make me an asshole? even if i stay anonymous?

You're totally right. Should "every second is better than the last"

my bad. I'll fix it.

I'm not sure which robot put it up, but the lady in the radiator song was posted a few months ago and I was just wondering where it could be found. All I can find in the Pixies cover which is great, but I'm hankering for the real thing.

You have to admire the ambition of this track, but despite it's earnestness it's really in need of a much, much tighter production. It's got a tendancy to falter to scrappy timing and muffled riffs. Very different though. A grower.
