Alexander the Burn Victim by Scarling.
Scarling. (the period seems to be part of the name) are the current band of Jessicka, who first made a name for herself with her band Jack Off Jill in the late 90's.
I think Jack Off Jill was frequently written off because they got wrapped up in the whole Marilyn Manson, Hot Topic "Goth" scene. While I personally have a healthy amount of respect for Mr. Manson, you have to admit that Manson fans can be a particularly annoying lot and seem to go out of their way to prevent anyone from taking anything they're remotely associated with seriously. JOJ toured with Manson and had a similar kind of look and penchant for shock value. Their music, though, was pretty straightforward riot grrl rock/punk. Their two albums, "Sexless Demons & Scars" and "Clear Hearts Gray Flowers", had their share of misses, but also had some seriously good tracks like "Girlscout", and "When I Am Queen".
Scarling. distances themselves even further from the spooky kids. "Sweet Heart Dealer" sounds more like My Bloody Valentine, Lycia, or Sonic Youth than anything in the Manson camp. Big swirling, fuzzy guitars, feedback and vocals ranging from sweet to sour. It seems short, but every track is great. It doesn't hurt that they have fabulous taste in cover art.
