You had to send the wrecking crew after me

new pornIt's been a while since I've posted, and oh the things I've seen. Like ... that guy who ... I mean, I was .... yeah, okay, so I was mostly sitting around. Perhaps, though, for the sake of a great segue, I was sitting around and waiting for the New Pornographers record.

The New Pornographers are that rare kind of extremely poppy music that you can listen to for more than five minutes without feeling like you ate too many Sugar Babies. A Canadian supergroup that includes songwriting ace A.C. Newman (who has a fantastic solo disc, The Slow Wonder, under his belt) and country heroine Neko Case, the New Pornographers started on a whim in 1997 and proceeded to release two great albums, Mass Romantic and Electric Version.

Their third record, Twin Cinema, is due out next Tuesday, and though this is old news for the die-hards, Matador has posted these two tracks:

Use It

Twin Cinema

My favorite of these two is definitely Use It, though I'm sure the title track will grow on me too. After their other albums and Newman's solo record, Twin Cinema has been pretty highly anticipated, and early reviews have been really positive. It's definitely worth checking out if you like these tracks.

You can order the album here. And if you're still impatient to hear the sugary goodness, check out these A.C. Newman tracks, also posted by the fine folks at Matador.

I cought A.C. Newmans set at the Intonation music fest while I was in Chicago and it was pretty hot. Besides the fact that the first song they played was completly out of tune (on the table) they realised such and replayed above mentioned without a hitch. The new New pornographers album is worth the money and the time. Anything these fellow canadians release is impressive.
