Different Names for the Same Thing
Death Cab for Cutie - Different Names for the Same Thing.
Don't know what else to say other than I couldn't be more psyched for this album. Is there anything better than a new Death Cab album in the fall? If what we've heard from this album is any indication, those of you wanting another Transatlanticism are in luck, and those of you wanting something a little different should also be satisfied. And all of that is represented in this one track--It starts out as a simple, sparse, haunting ballad, then around the two-minute mark the song shifts to a more lush, complicated arrangement that continues to build. Oh, and it kicks ass.
In the September issue of Wired, Ben Gibbard says "A good mp3 blog is like a friend with awesome taste in music who constantly shares his latest finds with you." And then he gives love to the Robots, Said the Gramaphone, and Soul Sides. All we can say is that the feeling is mutual, a good band makes you feel like you're in the same room, or even the same head with them. And that's what Death Cab keeps on doing.

(and look, I got through a whole Death Cab post without a single Seth Cohen reference!)
