Clue to Kalo - As Tommy Fixes Fights.

Recorded in Brooklyn after two years of production in Australia, Clue to Kalo's One Way, It's Every Way is a fantastic little record. The melodies are majestic, the beats tender but strong, the synth layers thick and chunky. For an album about death, it's surprisingly sun-drenched and upbeat. Mark Mitchell, recording here as Clue to Kalo, has created a wonderful pop album that ranks among the best of the year.

In "As Tommy Fixes Fights" alone, he runs through several different sounds, tempos, melodies and lyrical shifts. By the 5:30 mark you've forgotten what the original hook was as you're already emgrossed in the current one. It's quite a moving and ambitious song while still remaining a folk pop song at its core. Starting slowly with crystaline drones, the song builds to a steady beat before shifting gears again and heading off in another layer entirely. It sounds different to me every time I hear it.

I forget the exact release date, but I'm almost postive it comes out in September - September 20th to be exact - It's coming out in America on Mush Records.
