More Reasons to Party

let's party
So Here We Are (Four Tet Remix) by Bloc Party

Yeah, so Bloc Party have gone from UK upstart sensations to soundtrack music on the OC (on not one, but two different episodes*), and they've managed to play sold-out shows all over this country, playing bigger and bigger venues with aplomb. I'm proud to say that I've been at two of their shows in New York, both of which were quite amazing things to witness - they really rock, and they're as much fun to watch as you could hope.

Well, here's the next chapter: today Bloc Party will be releasing Silent Alarm Remixed (Wichita/Vice Recordings) - a track-by-track remix of their debut. The album has remixes by Jason from Pretty Girls Make Graves, Four Tet, M83, Mogwai, Death from Above 1979 and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, among others. The initial pressing of the album will also include a limited edition bonus disc with three b-sides previously unavailable in the US (“Storm and Stress,” “Always New Depths,” and “Skeletons” - all AMAZING songs), and two acoustic versions of “Plans” and “Storm and Stress.” All this and it is damn good.

I decided that I'd put this song up, even though there are probably a few other places that have posted this before, it is one of my favorite songs on the album, and one of my favorite remixes. With the swirling guitars, the sounds of fireworks in the background, and the ENORMOUS buildup that Four Tet puts this song through (four minutes for god's sake!) that blows up so late in the song, it is damn near perfect.

Buy the CD today from Insound or your favorite local retailler.

* Yes, I realize knowing this fact makes me awfully uncool, but I'll come right out and admit that I love the OC. There, I said it. So what?

There is no shame in liking the OC.

yeah, come on, blair. ain't nothing wrong with knowing about the o.c.

this album is very good as a remix. some of the tracks are old (the original "banquet" remix, that m83 mix has been floating around for a while) but it is well-done. almost (i said almost) as good as the album itself!

Great song,
I have been very impressed with the remixes I have heard so far from this album.
Im glad to see the Bloc Party remixes have not fallen of track as many remixes tend to do.
Oh and Blair,
if anyone gets on you for watching the OC (I, myself can't stand it) just tell them its because of the music and you wouldnt miss the new aspect such a show gives to songs you only previously imagined would be playing at the best moment possible.

So you love the OC do you? Well, you just lost yourself a loyal reader. Ugh, the thought of those overpriveleged, supple Southern California teens makes me sick. YAAAAAAAAAA!

Come On! American teen melodrama like the O.C. makes life in the sun and melanin deprived UK better. Good song. Four Tet's Remix output is staggering, both in terms of quantity and quality (god that all sounded incredibly cheesy, ah well).

OC=only caucasians.

I'm not discriminating...I'm just saying they should...could include more people of color...not just doing the yardwork either.

Actually I've never watched that show.

Thanks for this - I still haven't tracked down a copy of Pacific Ocean Blue, and it's always great to discover new Dennis material out there.

its bad these days. its no big deal to come out of the closet, but we are terrified to admit that we like the oc.

which personally, i find absolutely absorbing.

Seriously, I did a google search on robots who love to party, and got this. If it is OC music, I'm terribly dissapointed in those robots. I was hoping to find transistor music that glitches and pops and makes your body rock. Robots have no business partying to the OC, they should be involved in time travel to a time when there is more to music than whiney OC music. Stupid Marissa. - Ben
