Last night I had a dream...

A Little Word In Your Ear by Tom Vek

You may remember when I posted a track by Tom Vek back in March, having just got ahold of his 12" single for "I Ain't Saying My Goodbyes" and his amazing album We Have Sound from a friend from Britian. Well, here we are, six months down the line and his album is being released domestically by Brooklyn's Startime International. A solid move on the label's part, as Tom Vek is young, awfully talented, and with one album out, I can't wait to hear what he does next.

As I probably mentioned in my first post about him, Tom Vek plays all pretty much every instrument on his album. However, as he is out touring, he has assembled a live band to play with him, made up of friends and members of other bands he's played with. As I can attest to after Saturday night, they are a solid bunch of guys. The show sounds as much like the album as I was hoping it would, but with enough variation and live-band-fun as I'd hoped for too. I didn't get to meet all of the band, but the one's I did sure know how to throw down, so cheers boys, and thank you for quite a night! (props also to Mylo for a blinding DJ set, the SMD boys, mssrs. Bass, Isaacs and Friedman, Phones, JDH and Dave P, the boys in Hot Chip and Cut Copy, and the 'Sup party crew - unbelievable night)

Anyway, We Have Sound is out on StarTime International in mid-October, AND Tom and his band are out playing more shows (check the Live page) in the US this week: on the 20th of September in Chicago at Schubas, on the 22nd in San Francisco at Popscene, and on the 23rd in LA at the Echo - if you're in one of those cities, I would highly reccomend seeing the show, as they're a lot of fun.

PS: The new issue of 'Sup Magazine is out this week, and it is totally rad! and that's not just because MFR have an article in it! Pick up your copy for FREE from Nom de Guerre, Soundfix, Academy Records, I Heart, Turntable Lab, Other Music, Cake Shop and Insound.com -Yay!!!
