I think you should cut your hands off

bloodystumps! In their press bio, Fitzgerald labels themselves "indie folk", which is accurate enough at first - there are plenty of acoustic guitars swirling around, and surely their debut on 2024 Records, Light A Match and Burn It Slowly was primarily acoustic.

Their new record, Raised By Wolves, is something different altogether. With the help of some ingenious arrangements, eclectic instrumentation (clarinets!) and great production by Darren "Kid Dakota" Jackson (also a member of the Hopefuls), Nathan and Mandy pull out all the stops, all the while keeping the music intimate and warm.
My favorite track is probably

Fitzgerald - Bloody Stumps.

It's amazing how that little refrain will get stuck in your head, and you'll find yourself singing it, say, over by the copy machine. Your co-workers will think you're crazy.

But do yourself a favor and support these Minneapolis-based musicians, because the record really is the damndest thing, full of little moments that catch you off guard.
You can buy Raised By Wolves from 2024 Records.
