This Life's For Me

Plastic BertrandPlastic Bertrand - Ca Plane Pour Moi.

A complete rip off of "punk" piping in from the UK and US in the late 1970s, Plastic Bertrands "Ca Plane Pour Moi" is a masterpiece of Belgian pop. The French molded with English, the saxphone blasts, the way the lyrics stack higher and higher and higher until you're sure they'll topple over -- it's just perfect. I love every second on this thing.

I figured it'd be a good way to start your weekend, with a fluffy piece of pop nostalgia (you probably remember this from European Vacation when they're going shopping). What else can you ask for, really? It's just a silly bit of fun, and I hope you enjoy it. I mean, things are really tense in my office right now, and everyone's on edge. I think we can all use a little something to help us relax and push through this last day.

So, drop this on your virtual turntable and dance on your bed or something. It'll make you feel better.

Have a good weekend folks. See you on Monday!

Never knew this was Belgian. Yay for my southern neighbours. :)
Thanks for posting.

You should have tried growing up in Belgium at the time... It was like going grocery shopping here and hearing Gwen Stefany's stuff over and over... Except Plastic Bertrand never got on my nerves! And at least he shared the airwaves with Duran Duran!
Hey, if you want to relax in your office, you should try to last Brian Eno! After all, we gotta give him props for making songs again!!!
Cheers

i love it!! another great obscure 80's song, like gleaming spires "sex girls" from revenge of the nerds....these just make me smile for no reason!

good track but it's a cover/reversion of a track by a guy called Elton Motello called Jet Boy, Jet Girl. The production of that is a bit tighter and the lyrics pretty explicit "he gave me head" goes the chorus. Easy to see why Plastic ditched the words, I dont think gay punk was going to give him a hit.

Or maybe I've got the release dates wrong and Elton's is the cover??

It's the museum scene and not the shopping spree scene

Damn you! I was half finished with a piece about Mr. P. Bertrand when I came upon your post. Looks like I'll have to postpone it a little while so I don't step on anybody else's Internet toes. Anyway, thanks! - what a great song. Never heard a bad version.

Hey guys !
I'm from Belgium... and Plastic Bertrand sucks !
Ok, this song looks good. When I was 10 (in 1981) I loved this great "punk song".
But Plastic Bertrand really sucks !

TRUST ME !

Elton Motello recorded and released the original version of "Ca Plane Pour Moi".
It's called "Jet Boy Jet Girl".
It can be found on the brilliant album "Victim Of Time".
Plastic Bertrand used Elton's backing tracks when he recorded "Ca Plane Pour Moi" and a few other tunes ("Pogo Pogo", for instance).
All lovely stuff.

The original version is called "Jet Boy Jet Girl" and was recorded by Elton Motello.
